| Dear future host family, I’m Gerard, I’m 15 years old, I live in a seaside town situated 30 minutes away from Barcelona. I have a wonderful family and I love all my family members. My family consist in 4 members, includins me, my 17 year old brother (Joan), my mom (Gemma) and my dad (Carles). Joan studies eleventh grade, he gets very good grades, last year he studied in Germany. He likes sports, music and fashion. He plays soccer in the village team as me. Gemma works in a bank, she likes to do sports in the gym, cooking, reading and doing things with the whole family and friends. She is very affectionate and loves helping everyone. Carles is a tennis coach. He also goes to the gym like my mom. His main hobbies are tennis, mountain biking, and hanging out with his friends and family. He is very funny. To have fun with my family, we play board games like Trivial, Party Junior… I also like to go to the pool with my father and brother and we play soccer together. We enjoy having fun with friends, going to the theater, and having lunch or dinner in a restaurant. I consider myself very polite, active, affectionate and friendly. I adapt very easily to places and people, the fact of having an au pair at home for 7 years has meant that I’m open minded and that I have many friends around the world. I work as a volunteer in an association that organizes events like the cavalcade of Three Wise Men. This year I had to disguise myself as an Oompa Loompa (Wonka’s character). I like little children, especially when I play with them and make them laugh. Sometimes I make my parents angry because I love playing video games but they prefer staying together. I really like sports, practicing and watching them on TV or live. I love meeting friends, listening to music and being with the family, but what I like to do the most is playing soccer with my friends in a park or in the village soccer club. My favorite meals are sushi, a good cheeseburger, mexican food, breaded loin, couscous, but I would also like to try typical American food to be able to add another dish to this list. I love to travel. I have been to many counties in Europe, such as the Czech Republic, Ireland, Poland, Austria, Italy, France, Germany and England, which is the one I like the most. I went to London and visited typical places like Big Ben or Trafalgar Square, but the place I enjoyed the most was a tour of Arsenal Soccer Stadium. I tried English food and I practiced the language. During my time with you, I hope to improve my English level a lot. I know that nowadays it is not the best. I would love to learn the culture and traditions of your lovely country, meeting new friends and, with no doubt, a new family. Finally, I want to thank you for giving me this extraordinary chance to live and study in your home for ten months. I really appreciate the generosity you are showing , by letting me into your home and family. If it weren’t for you, I would never get this “once in a lifetime experience”. Kind regards Gerard |
