Dear future host family,

at first, I want to thank you that you are thinking about choosing me and that you want me to be a part of your family for 5 months. I appreciate that so much and I know that it’s a big responsibility. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about you. In this letter I would like to tell you about me, my family and why I want to go to the USA.

My name is Hannah. I’m a 15 years old girl and living with my parents and my big sister in Germany. We life in a small village near the big city Hamburg. I’m entering the 10th class of a gymnasium and my favorite subjects are English, sports and science. I spend the most of my time with my friends. We love to go shopping, play games and do other activities like going to a theme park or go to a lake. I also like to spend time with my family. We often play board games or watch movies together. My hobby is athletics and I’m doing it with one of my closest friends. I started it two years ago and now I am also going to a local gym.

I also love winter activities like snowboarding, skiing and Ice skating. One of my strengths are cooking and baking. I used to bake a lot with my grandma and she told me everything about it. But even more I like cooking. I am always helping my dad or I cook alone. I would like to bake and cook you some of my favorite recipes.

I think spending a year abroad can help me develop and get more mature. I love seeing different cultures and I personally think the „ American Highschool life„ sound pretty interesting. In addition to that I would also „teach„ you some German things like food the culture and just how we live here in general, on the other side of the world.

My goal for the exchange year is to have a great time that I’ll enjoy without stressing myself and just be completely myself, in a new country.

I’m open to try new things, like cheerleading or other sports, meeting new people and to get to know other sides of America.
