Hi! My name is Jaime; here is a bit about me and I hope you like my letter!

The first thing I want to say is that I am so grateful that you are reading my request and for the kindness you are showing by receiving people into your house. I would very much like to be the person that you choose.

I live in the south of Spain with my family. My dad is 53 years old; my mum is 54 years old; and my brother is 13. My parents are both civil servants working for the government tax department – they both like travelling and my mum is a fantastic cook. My brother goes to the same school as me but is in the year below. He likes playing soccer and spending time with his friends, as do I.

I´m blessed with a family that go above and beyond for me, and they have taught me to do the same for them! We´ve travelled a lot as a family to countries such as Italy, Germany, France, England and Scotland. Can´t wait to add the USA to that list hopefully! to experience American culture and try different types of food would be unreal as I love eating and trying new things!

I am currently 15 years old and like to think of myself as a kind and chilled person. I am sociable and love spending time with friends and talking to them about sports, specifically how poorly my local team is playing! I would love to bring this love of sports to your household by watching MLS or NBA games as a family as I love playing basketball and soccer because they are fun and entertaining and are good for my health and fitness.

As is tradition for a teenager music is a big part of my life. I love Mike Towers, Quevedo and Drake. I find it super relaxing and can´t wait to learn more about your family´s taste in music! On top of just liking music, I am a pianist, spending eight years practicing daily, helping me stay disciplined.

One of my favorite subjects at school is Math, not only because I´m good at it, but also because I took up to figures like Einstein and simply love learning about new ways to solve problems.

I’ve spent 6 years as a part of my school’s Boy Scout group, with which I spend a lot of time engaging in outdoor activities, like hiking, camping, and forest survival exercises. More than anything though, what I’ve loved most about these experiences were the feelings of accomplishment they gave me. In cleaning litter from beaches and natural parks, collaborating with NGOs to provide food to underserved communities, and aiding my local homeless community in providing them stable shelter, I truly feel like a useful and meaningful contributor to my community. I’m eager to continue serving people in my time away from home!

I enjoy cooking with my mum and eating what we make! At time we come across meals prepared on social media and I do my best to replicate them together with my mum. I enjoy eating lots of different types of food and also like trying new foods and flavors. I would love to be able to cook you guys some Spanish dishes such as Spanish omelets or squid with a Spanish twist; I promise not to disappoint!

I love pets and would like to have a dog, but my parents don’t want to get one because they think it will be too much work, although I feel responsible enough to take care of a dog!

I am told by my friends (with whom I love spending as much time as possible with) that I´m a friendly, funny individual who is good with people and loves share humour. One thing I´d love to work on, however, is my independence. I´d love to learn how to make better decisions for myself, which is something I hope to do by living in another country for a year. I am also keen to listen and learn from the advice other people give me!

I am willing to help around the house in whatever ways you think is suitable, like cleaning dishes, folding clothes, or doing household chores in addition to keeping on top of my own responsibilities!
