Dear host family!

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for making it possible for me to spend a high school year in the USA by accepting me into your family. So that you can get to know me better I would like to introduce myself.

My family consists only of my mom and me. My uncle and my grandpa are also part of the family. I go on weekend trips with my mom. We go cycling together or hiking in the nearby woods. When the weather is warm, we go swimming or stand-up paddling at lakes. We like to go mini golfing and take my grandpa with us. I like to go to amusement parks and my mom goes with me, even if the roller coasters are sometimes too fast for her and she doesn’t dare to go on all the rides. Together we go to exhibitions in museums in our city or in other cities. On warm days, we go to our favorite ice cream parlor or on special occasions, to a restaurant for dinner. My mom helps me study for school, reminds me of homework or school appointments. I go hiking and karting with my uncle from time to time. We often have barbecues together at his house. I help my grandpa in the garden and with work around the house.

I’m sporty, friendly, helpful, reliable and respectful. I can be funny and it’s easy for me to make others laugh. I am interested in many new things. I am open, flexible, tolerant, communicative and can adapt to new situations. I find it easy to stay calm. I enjoy working with others. I manage to inspire others with my ideas or motivate them for my projects. If a task, project or matter appeals to me strongly, I work persistently and purposefully. I would like to be less distracted at school and develop a better ability to concentrate. Sometimes I set myself standards that are too high. If I can’t meet them, I quickly feel frustrated.

In my free time I play handball in a club and go MTB riding. I’ve been playing handball for 8 years and I’m a goalkeeper. I like meeting up with my friends. We go to the outdoor pool together, go karting or to the movies. I also enjoy playing online games with my friends. I like listening to music or podcasts to relax. I like to eat burgers or BBQ steaks as well as pizza. We celebrate Easter and Christmas. At Easter, I get an Easter basket with sweets from my mom. During Christmas season, I bake cookies. Together with my mom, I buy the Christmas tree and decorate it. For Mother’s Day, I get my mum a small gift and we do something together.

During my stay abroad, I want to get to know the American culture, way of life and school system, improve my English language skills and make new friends. I am really looking forward to the new experiences and exciting adventures that await me in the USA.
