Dear future host family,

I have always been a spontaneous person open to trying new things and experiencing new cultures, places, food etc. I always travel with my family or friends, and I really enjoy it, but I would like to try it even a little bit on my own and meet new people. So, when my brother decided to go for the exchange year last year, I knew I would love to do it also. In this letter I will try my best to honestly introduce myself and my hobbies.

So hi, my name is Kacka (Kate)! I am 15y.o. and I come from a small city near Prague-the capital of the Czech Republic. It’s a beautiful country with lovely nature. I like to do sports, spend time with friends, listen to music, spend time in nature, eat good food and of course watch some series, movies or Formula 1. And newly I’m learning to play the violin.

In my life I have tried several sports such as volleyball, swimming, gymnastics but in the end, I stuck with rope skipping, which I have been doing since I was 5y.o. On rope skipping I like that I can always learn new tricks and do several disciplines both as a team and individually and either speed or freestyle. And I love how my childhood friends in the team grew up with me and we now have amazing friendships. This year we went to many big competitions with our little group from the team and we now have an incredible bond.

As I said I love spending time with friends from school or rope skipping. I always laugh so much with them my stomach hurts for the next several days. And I can do literally anything with them, it’s always guaranteed fun.

I have a brother who is 18, with whom I have a very good relationship. I think I am quite extroverted, but it depends on who I’m with and how close we are. I think I could about myself that I have a great sense of humor. I’m always up for all kinds of fun. And I believe I am empathetic.

We have a dog at home named Ron and he is the cutest and most amazing pet in the universe. We also had guinea pigs with my brother, but they sadly passed away a few years ago. I also like cats and all pets.

Every holiday my family and I travel somewhere, in the winter we usually go to the Alps where I go snowboarding or skiing. (I prefer snowboard it’s more fun.) Because in Czech Republic there are not very good ski resorts, and because we don’t have here sea. We travel to the sea or for hiking in the summer. In the summer I prefer the sea and swimming (I don’t know why but I just love doing anything in water, I would really love to try surfing).

I am looking forward to getting to know American culture and celebrating holidays that we don’t have here, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. I also hope to be part of some high school sports events and, overall, experience the American high school dream.
