Dear Host Family,

My name is Kayssé, I am 16 years old, and I live with my mother, my older brother, and my older sister. My brother, who is 20, studies finance while being a high-level athlete. My sister, who is 18, attends the same high school as me and plans to study medicine next year. We are very close, and I love spending time with them, whether playing badminton in the garden, board games, or enjoying vacations by the sea together.

Currently, my favorite subject is mathematics, even though I am not the best in my class. I also enjoy history and geography, and of course, sports. I love almost every sport, but my favorites are running (influenced by my father and brother), racket sports, and especially soccer. Soccer has been my passion since I was five years old. My favorite player is Lionel Messi, and his move to the United States feels like a sign!

American culture is already a big part of my daily life, especially through music. I am passionate about American rap and listen to artists like Tupac, Drake, and Justin Bieber. The United States fascinates me, particularly its cinema—American movies are my favorite! My all-time favorite movie is The Wolf of Wall Street. When it comes to food, I enjoy simple dishes, especially burgers, lasagna, and couscous.

Through this incredible experience, I hope to gain more self-confidence, which is something I would like to improve. I have already faced an adaptation challenge when I was on vacation in Algeria: I wanted to play soccer in a stadium with local kids, but I didn’t speak their language. However, I gathered my courage, approached them, and managed to communicate my desire to play. Even without words, they understood, and in the end, I not only played but also made new friends. This experience taught me that communication goes beyond language.

I believe I will adapt easily to the American school system and to a new host family because I am energetic, funny, and sporty. I love talking and sharing stories about my life! I am motivated, curious, and excited to discover a new environment. I truly hope that a family will give me the opportunity to live this adventure.
