Dear host family,
Firstly, thank you for taking time to read my letter. My name is Krittameth, and my nickname is Mockky. I’m Thai and my nationality is also Thai. I am 15 years old and currently studying in grade 10th. Both my natural parents are Thai. I consider myself part of a mixed family. My biological parents are no longer together; however, I am primarily in the care of my father and my extended paternal family, especially my paternal grandparents and aunties. I also have a stepmother who has a son younger than me—my half-brother. I enjoy spending time with my family, whether it’s traveling, shopping, or watching TV together.
I am a quiet person around strangers, but I am extremely cheerful with my friends. I spend most of my free time listening to music. I always wake up at 6am and go to school at 7am. My class starts from 8:30 to 16:20. When I come back home, I will always take a shower first. And then I’ll have dinner and go to bed at 10pm. At school, there are 45 students in my class, and I enjoy being with every single one of them. I have a group of seven close friends. When we are assigned a project, we always help each other complete it.
I am a member of the robotics club, where we build robots for competitions. Although we didn’t win, we gained a lot of valuable experience. After school, my friends and I go our separate ways to work on our own activities. I usually head to the robotics club, but during sports days, I become a drummer for my cheerleading team instead.
My hobby is learning English through videos and computer games, as I enjoy both playing and watching them. This method allows me to have fun while improving my vocabulary and understanding of the language. Over time, I’ve noticed that it helps me pick up new words, phrases, and expressions naturally, making the learning process much more enjoyable and effective.
I love studying English and computer science because I think they will be very useful in the future. My favorite sport is basketball. I’m not good at it yet, but I’m practicing to improve. I also love dancing and singing, though I prefer dancing. I can play a little bit of guitar and also play the drums.
I enjoy eating noodles, spicy food, and pizza. My favorite food is crispy pork with kale, and my favorite seafood is salmon. I can eat some vegetables, such as cabbage, lettuce, and kale. My favorite fruits are apples, grapes, oranges, and guavas. I don’t like shrimp because it’s hard to eat. I love Halloween and Christmas because they give me cheerful vibes. My favorite family traditions are family dinners and pizza nights.
I want to have new experiences that I can’t get in Thailand. I believe these experiences will help me grow and learn more about myself and the world. I also want to share Thai culture with my host family and others I meet. I plan to introduce them to Thai food, words, phrases, and festivals so that we can learn from each other. Additionally, I wish to help my host family with their chores, such as cleaning, washing the dishes, and tidying up the room.
Another reason is that I believe the United States is highly advanced in many areas, such as education, technology, and media. These aspects make me even more excited to study there and experience them firsthand. I hope to gain plenty of experience, improve my English skills, and learn about new cultures and ideas that will help me grow and improve myself when I return to Thailand.
Thank you for accepting me into your family. I hope to meet my host family soon and spend time together. Even though it might be a short stay, I’m sure it will be a special and unforgettable experience for me.
