Dear Future Host Family,
First and foremost, thank you for considering me as a part of your family. I am truly excited about the opportunity to embark on this journey and to get to know you. Allow me to share a little bit about myself, my family, and my hopes for this incredible experience.
My name is Laín, and I live with my father, my mother, and my younger sister. Together, we enjoy doing many activities such as hiking, playing video games, and watching movies. My father is assertive and analytical, my mother is kind and has an exceptional memory, and my sister is very intelligent and creative. Whenever I tell my parents that I want to start a new project, they always help me focus on my strengths and overcome my limitations. I feel very grateful and happy to have such a close relationship with them.
I consider myself an intelligent, hardworking, and curious person. I love discovering new things, people, and cultures, and learning more about them. I tend to get frustrated when things don’t work out on the first try, but I lean on my family and friends to help me find alternative ways to achieve my goals. I often believe that everyone has good intentions, which can make me a bit naive at times. However, this quality is also why my friends see me as a loyal and trustworthy person.
In my free time, I enjoy reading comics and anything related to history, especially the 20th century. For instance, I am a subscriber to National Geographic History magazine. I also like playing board games and video games. I enjoy playing soccer and padel, although I don’t participate in competitions. I have a great appreciation for food and dislike very few things. My favorite dishes include Spanish omelet, croquettes, and any food with strong flavors. Winter, especially Christmas, is my favorite time of the year because I can play in the snow, celebrate Three Wise Men Day, and spend more time with my family.
With this experience, I hope to immerse myself in American culture, improve my English, and share my own culture with your family and country. I would love to build lasting relationships with you and the new friends I make, relationships that can continue for many years after this first (and hopefully not last) step in America. I am excited to learn about your traditions and integrate into your daily routines so that our time together can be as enriching as possible.
I am quite adaptable and open to trying new things, but I do value open communication. I appreciate a family environment where we can share our thoughts and experiences. I’m also happy to help out around the house and be a contributing member of your family. While I don’t have strict preferences, I would appreciate having some quiet time to reflect or engage in personal activities, as it helps me recharge.
Thank you for opening your home and hearts to me. I look forward to meeting you, learning from you, and becoming a part of your family. Until then, I send my warmest regards.
