LETTER FROM Laura

Laura

Dear future host family,
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is Laura, I am 16 years old and I live in a small town in the north of Germany. I live with my mother because my parents are divorced. Nevertheless, I have a good relationship with my father and visit him regularly. My family includes my grandma, who lives in an apartment in our house, and my four cousins who grew up with their parents very close to me. My family is a very important part of my life, because we always support each other and do a lot together.

In my free time I go to fencing twice a week and sometimes to fencing tournaments. Once a week I have electric guitar lessons – I’m still at the very beginning and still have a lot to learn. I love to cook and bake and hope to learn new recipes in the U.S. and if you like, I’ll cook you my favorite dish sometime. One of my favorite things to do is to play and cuddle with my two cats Elmo and Mailo. I also like to meet up with my friends an we got to the movies, eat ice cream, go shopping or make a campfire in the evening and eat marshmallows.

In 2015, I spent three weeks on vacation in the USA and fell in love with the country. My two cousins also spent a year at an American high school a few years ago and talked a lot about this valuable life experience. All this has encouraged me to encounter a new country with its culture and people through the exchange year. I am really looking forward to getting to know you, trying out many new things, improving my English and meeting new people.

Thank you so much for having me in your family for a year. I can hardly wait to meet you.

Yours,
Laura
