Dear Host Family,

My name is Léon, and I live with my parents in a house near Berlin. In the evenings, we dine together, watch movies, or hang out. My grandmother lives just two streets away, so I often help her with things like mowing the lawn or repairing her phone. My sister lives in Berlin, and we like to meet for coffee. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends – whether it’s cycling, picnics, trips to Berlin, baking, or swimming.

Making things is one of my biggest interests. I constructed a motorized drift trike and an associated trailer with my best friend. I also attend sports shooting each weekend, and I like repairing and customizing my bike. Another thing that I like to do is cook smashed burgers – they are really fun to cook and even tastier to eat!

I would characterise myself as responsible and always open to something new. While I’m really keen on my hobbies, I also work really hard at school because I understand how important good grades at school are.

I would like to spend a school year in the USA because I’ve always been fascinated by the American way of life. On a fortnight’s sojourn near Los Angeles, I noticed how folks are so easy-going and cheerful there. It was an absolutely fascinating thing to notice how everyone just coasts along and savors every moment. That attitude and life indeed impressed me so much so, and I wish to feel it deeply. The USA also provides a unique school system, and I am curious to know how students there behave towards their peers and teachers.

One of my main goals for my time in the USA is to learn to speak English better and to learn more about the culture. I’m excited to make new friends, to try new things as hobbies, and to see the things that are different from what I have in Germany. I also hope to travel around and learn more about American life.

Other than that, I would love to attend a tuning meet for motorcycles and automobiles since it is one of my greatest interests. I also look forward to helping the family and household as well as in the garden so that I can be of use and assist as much as possible.

I’m really looking forward to gaining new experience and hoping to have an unforgettable time with you. I am eager to exchange my traditions and interests with you, and learn about yours as well.
