| Dear host family, First of all, thank you for the time you’ve chosen to dedicate to my letter. I’m Edoardo and I am a 16 year old boy, I live in a city in Northern Italy near Milan. My family consists of mother Barbara, father Renato and my 20 year old brother Simone. I have a very special bond with my family even if I don’t always show it. I love watching films with all of them especially during the Christmas period under a warm blanket on the sofa with the fireplace lit surrounded by the Christmas atmosphere. Every time we decide to watch a film we start discussing the genre, the duration and only after a few hours we do reach an agreement! I would watch the HARRY POTTER saga a thousand times, now I really know entire parts of the film by heart and unfortunately only my mother shares my passion for the wizard. Until a few years ago (before the pandemic and when my brother was younger) every Sunday we took a trip to the lake or went to visit some city near us; I don’t like walking that much but at the end of the day it makes me always happy! Unfortunately now I don’t have much time at the weekend because school really takes me up a lot so maybe we only go out in the evening for a pizza or at the cinema. I’m also happy to stay at home all together especially in the summer when we have lunch on the terrace every time it’s a special event watching my father barbecuing and fighting mosquitos ending with a nice relax on the hammock! I have fun with little and you could make me happy even with just the essentials. I appreciate everything, but my biggest flaw is that I’m a bit lazy and need to be encouraged to do something I don’t particularly like. I love listening to music too. If I had to choose one of my qualities, I would say that it is the ability to listen . I’m very patient and I always try to be compliant but sometimes, especially with my brother, I lose patience… a caress or a sweet word is enough to make me smile again! Usually my daily routine is: I wake up at 7:00, go to school from 8:00 to 15:00. When I get home I play video games, study and sometimes go out with my friends while in the evening I stream on Twitch or go out with friends. I love listening to music, especially pop, running my bicycle, spending time walking in nature and everything that concerns being in contact with nature. My hobbies are video games, Twitch streaming and programming, but I also like watching movies and ice skating. I’ve been doing kung fu and swimming as sports, but I’ve actually given up a bit, but I’m planning to start running and do some athletics. I’m not a great athlete but I like to try all sports when I have the opportunity. I am also very interested in everything related to astronomy, the sky and science in general. I love being in silence in the nature just to focus on my goals or simply to relax me and my mind. My favorite dishes are typically Italian such as: pasta carbonara, pasta with tomato and mozzarella or pizza and also fried seafood, meats. Cooked vegetables are also fine. I love Christmas because we meet with my uncles and my grandmother all together on both the 25th and 26th December, two days of chaos and food, the only sad thing is that I miss my grandpa, he was for me a reference point , I grew me up with him to the age of 9 while parents were at work and not having him around is a big lose for me! After the big meal we set the table and start playing board games. We are a family very tied to traditions and on these holidays we always try to be there for everyone. From this experience, in addition to learning English perfectly, I expect to come back a better person, smoothing out my negative sides and improving the positive ones even more. I hope to learn to be even more independent, to improve my problem solving skills, to learn about new traditions, new ways of living and I also hope to leave something good for the family who wants to host me. I would like this period spent together to be a special exchange, I hope to receive but above all to give. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to meeting you. Edoardo |
