Dear Host Family,

My name is Lizzy. I’m writing to introduce myself and share my expectations and hopes for this amazing journey.

I currently live with my grandparents and our pets: a cat named Molly and two rabbits, Tinky and Toffy. My grandpa and I bond a lot through sports; we try to go windsurfing every weekend, which is a great way to connect. With my grandma, I spend time talking about my future and learning how to value life. Molly, my cat, isn’t very fond of physical contact, so I can’t interact much with her. However, my rabbits are super fun and curious, they’ve even learned some tricks like spinning for balls and other amusing little stunts.

I am a cheerful and sociable person who doesn’t enjoy conflicts and tries to avoid them as much as possible. One of my strengths is my ability to handle several languages (English, German, Spanish, and French), which helps me communicate with a wide variety of people. On the other hand, one of my weaknesses is my competitiveness. I’ve always pushed myself to be at the top, whether in sports or academics, which can sometimes lead to pressure. I’m working on finding balance to avoid putting too much weight on my shoulders.

My hobbies include windsurfing, running, listening to music, and dancing. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and having meaningful conversations. I’m not a picky eater, and I love exploring different cuisines, although my absolute favorites are my grandpa’s spaghetti and my grandma’s ‘chili con carne’. They’re simply the best! I absolutely love Christmas, even though it never snows where I live. The happiness, connection, and time spent with family and friends make it my favorite holiday. For instance, my family has a tradition of preparing a big variety of delicious dishes for Christmas dinner such as cheese fondue, serrano ham, German sausage salad, and more.

What I hope to gain from this exchange is an unforgettable experience, something I can look back on and consider one of the best decisions of my life. I want to meet new people, create lifelong memories, and feel like my life is fuller and more meaningful because of this opportunity.
