LETTER FROM Lorenzo

Lorenzo

Dear future host family,

My name is Lorenzo and I am a 15 year old boy from Spain. I live in a city in a family of five, with my two older brothers, my mother and my father. I spend a lot of time with my family, specially with my twin brother because we share the same friends. Nevertheless, I also like to hang out with my eldest brother, who is 17 years old and went to study to the USA last year. My mother is an architect and my father is a business agent. Due to his job, my father travels frequently and my mother is around the house more often.

Regarding myself, I am an open person but I am low-key and sometimes a bit quiet. I am creative, sociable and responsible, and I like to keep my things tidy. When my parents are busy, I do the cooking and I also help with laundry, the dishes and trash. I love doing sports, specially playing soccer with my friends and spending time outside in general. On the weekend, I sometimes play video games with my brother or watch a movie with my family. I am currently in high school studying tenth grade. My school is pretty big but compared to America it would be a rather small school. My favorite subjects are maths and economy, and in the future I want to study business in college.

In summer vacation, I usually do some tourising with my family or we visit my father’s hometown. During Christmas holidays, we go to my grandma’s house on my mother’s side. There, we meet with my aunts, uncles and little cousins that I love spending time with. On Christmas Eve, we all have dinner together and I enjoy my grandma’s cooking. My favourite dish are her croquettes, but I am not a picky eater and I eat almost every food.

I want to study abroad because I have never studied in another country and I see it as a great opportunity to learn English and grow as a more independent person. I have also heard very good things from other people who have lived this kind of experience. I believe I will be able to make the most out this year because I am mature and I am excited to learn more about another country’s culture and share my own. I would be interested in a family with good comunication and an active enviroment that enjoys making plans outdoors.

I would kindly like to thank the family that read my letter and will welcome me in their home. I am looking forward to this experience and to meeting you!

Nice regards, Lorenzo
