Dear Future Host Family,

First of all, I want to thank you for making my biggest dream come true. I always wanted to make an exchange year to the U.S., because I think it’s such a good opportunity to get impressions of another country and to get to know new people. It’s so admirable that you give young people like me such a big chance.

My name is Lotte and I am currently 15 years old. I am looking forward to experiencing the American high school and the American culture, I can of course show you some aspects of the German culture as well.

During my stay in the U.S., I want to make new experiences and I would like to know more about living there. It would be perfect to meet new people and do exciting things with them. I love discovering new places and making memories. I hope my time in your family will allow me to become even more open-minded and self-confident. In addition to these things, it is very important for me to improve my English. I think that living in the U.S. will be an awesome possibility for me and that it will have a big influence on my life and personality. Also, I hope that after my time in your family, American will be a second home to me.

I am living in the west of Germany in a small city. Together with my family, I am living in a house with a garden. I have an older brother, Til, who is 19 years old. Not to forget I also live with my dog Cleo, and my cat Karlo. I grew up my whole life with pets and I love them a lot.

I have a very good relationship with my family and they are a big part of my life. I can trust my family with everything and I am very grateful that they made this stay abroad in the USA possible for me. This is not something to be taken for granted and I really appreciate it. We all love to go on holiday. We usually go on vacation with our camping car and we travelled to different countries in Europe.

In my free time, I often visit my friends. We spent quite a lot of time together, talking, shopping, baking and playing board games. In addition, I adore reading books, and doing creative things, like drawing, painting or crocheting. I can bake something for you, or we can bake something together when I’m in the U.S. For 4 years, I have been doing gymnastics in a local club and I Really love it. In addition, I really like kids. For 2 years I have been babysitting a 4-year-old boy and I am tutoring a 12 years old boy in Math and English. It would be perfect if there were small children or children my age in my host family.

Currently, I am in 10th grade in high school. My school is about 15 minutes away from my home, I do go there by bike every day. My favorite subjects are English, History, and Art. Furthermore, I am singing in the school choir.

I am an amiable and open-minded person. I am helpful and empathic because I love it when people are happy. Furthermore, I am honest and very organizated. Sometimes I am a bit shy at the beginning, but that goes away quickly.

Now I am very much looking forward to spending a year in the U.S. and I hope I could give you a little insight into my life and I am excited to get to know you.
