ear Host Family,
My name is Luka, and I am from Georgia. I am really excited to be a participant in this Exchange Program and I can’t wait to meet you in person!
Firstly, I would like to thank you for selecting me, welcoming me into your home and giving me this exceptional opportunity to live with your family. I wholeheartedly hope that we will have a lot in common, spend an excellent time together, become lifelong friends and create unforgettable memories.
Let me introduce myself so you can get to know me better. I live in Georgia, a small country in the South Caucasus with an ancient history and unique culture. Even though my country is small with a population of 3.5 million people, we are really proud of our history, culture and our native language, which is one of the fourteen scripts in the world.
The city where I live is an ancient place known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and cultural diversity. I live with my parents and baby brother in an apartment in the very heart of the city. I hope someday you will visit my homeland, experience our cozy
streets, tasty foods, the warm, welcoming people and fall in love with the city just like I have.
Every day I attend Public School and like most teenagers I have my daily routines, hobbies and passions. However, unlike many of my peers, I can say that I really love my school. I never miss my classes and always take part in sports events. I play football as an amateur. One of my proudest moments was when my class participated in a tournament last year and won the School Cup. I will never forget how happy I was in that moment because our hard work paid off.
Other than football, my favorite sport is fencing and I am a professional athlete in it. I started fencing at the age of 10, and since then, I have won quite an impressive number of rewards that I am really proud of. I always give my best and aim to showcase my abilities and full potential in every match. I train three to four times a week, so I am usually busy and I don’t have much free time. However, when my time schedule allows, I love spending time with my friends and family members. I believe nothing beats being together with your loved ones and enjoying every moment of it. Even though my brother is almost 15 years younger than me, I really enjoy playing with him, especially when my mother needs a helping hand.
On weekends, my friends and I go camping or just rest in my room, listening to music.
On Holidays my family and I go on short trips around Georgia or travel abroad. Traveling is my passion. What I love most about it is meeting different kinds of people with different customs all over the world and we have the chance to share experiences. I am always curious to explore new countries, and I am usually open to communicating and making friends.
When I found out that the Program offers the possibility to live in the U.S., study in an American school, and live with an American family for one year, I was excited because it is excellent opportunity to experience what I value the most, which is to get to know American life,
traditions, history, and educational system and meet a lot of new people. I truly believe that it will be a valuable experience and an unforgettable memory for a lifetime.
So, I can’t wait to meet you in person, get to know you, and experience this truly unique adventure with you. I may not be someone special or perfect, but I will give my best shot to make your choice the right one and prove that choosing me was the right decision.
