Dear American Family
My name is Malena and I’m 15 years old. I’m really open mind person and I love meeting new people. I enjoy spending time with people around me. I’m always trying to be positive about what I’m doing, the next thing that describe me is the fact that I’m determinate and I’m trying a lot of new things to reach my goals. More about me is that I really like to spend time with people who can teach me new things. But I also have weakness like stressing a lot but I’m trying to fight with this because is not good for me.
Also I want to tell you about my family. We are living on the suburbs of big city in Poland. I’m living in semi-detached house with my parents, my younger brother who’s 12 years old and our dog. We really enjoy travelling together in our country and abroad. Sometimes we can’t take our dog Kobe with as but when it’s possible he goes with as. The other thing about my family is that they really support my when I need it and thankful to them is who I become now. They give me a lot of opportunities to try new things, and thanks to that now I don’t have a problem with meeting new people or find myself in new situations. I think they also give me mindset that I have to work hard for my dreams and that the patient and engagement are very important. They also teach my how important are relationships with each other because even if you lose your friends you will still have your family by your side.
Next I want to talk to you about my hobbies and what I liked to do in my free time. I’m person who is really into sports, what is one of the most important thing in my life. My main hobby now is running track. I’m very determinate in it, I’m training 4 times a week I’m dreaming about going to Olympics some day and I really believe that if I work hard I can make it happened. I would love to have opportunity to run track in school during my exchange year that will help my improve my skills and see Americans view for this sport I know that USA have the best sprinters in the world like Gabby Thomas and Noah Lyles. I also was doing karate for 10 years and enjoy it, as well I did horse raiding and dancing most off my live. I also enjoy trying new sports if I have any occasion for it. I think all of those sports teach me something new and impact on me now. I can’t imagine my life without sport it helps my keep fit and also makes my so happy, always after my training I feel like newborn and have more energy and motivation for example for studying. I also like an art. In primary school I painted a lot but now I’m more focus on drawing. I also attend drawing extra lessons. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, often when we meet we cook something or bake and play board games which I really liked to. I also enjoy to tinker, for example when we moved in into new house I assemble most of furniture we use now. What’s more, I love building Lego blocks and I’m collecting it.
Also I would like to share with you some of my favorite dishes, like polish food, pierogis (dumplings) and from foreign countries I love Italian pasta like bolognese and carbonara. Because I’m not the best at cooking, but baking is definitely my thing and I really enjoy sharing my baked goods with my family and friends.
The next thing what I think is important is my view of exchange year. I know it is not like in the movies but I have been interested about it since I was 11, so I believe I now a lot about it. After this experience I expect to know more about you, your culture and that I can get to know your view of life. Also I want to show you my culture not from stereotypes but the real one. I expect to meet new people and of course to improve my English. But one of the most important things to me is to go out of my comfort zone and be more independent. For now I still don’t know what I want to do in future but I have some ideas so maybe during my exchange I’m going to find out what is going to be good for me. I still have a lot of time for this so it is not my priority. I think after my exchange year I’m going to be more confident, gain different perspective of live, learn new culture and new skills.
Thank you for reading my letter I believe we are going to have a great time together. I know I’m ready for this adventure and I hope to see you in August 2025.
