Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Marie, and I’m so excited about spending time with you in the coming year. I’m from Germany, and I live in a big city with my
mom. My dad lives close by, so I get to visit him and my little sister on weekends, which I really love. My mom and I are very close, and we’re a good team – we go hiking together, explore new places in the city, or just chill at home cooking or watching movies.

When I’m not with my family, I’m usually hanging out with friends. We like to go shopping, grab something to eat, or just talk for hours. My biggest passion is horseback riding. Twice a week, I get to spend time with my foster horse, which is so cool. I’ve learned a lot about
taking care of her, and it really helps me unwind. Also, my best friend rides too, so we can share that together.

I’d say I’m a pretty open and friendly person, and I usually adapt to new places and people quickly. I’ve spent several summers in England with my grandmother, which really helped me learn how to be comfortable in new situations. I’m super excited to do the same in the U.S. –
I love meeting new people and hearing about their lives. I’m especially looking forward to learning about American culture and sharing a bit of German culture with you too (maybe we can even cook some German food together!).

I chose the U.S. because it’s got such a mix of people and places, and I’m curious to see it all up close. Plus, I’ve always wanted to know if life in the U.S. is like what we see in movies! I also really want to improve my English, especially in normal, everyday conversations.
I’m excited to join your family life. I think all those everyday moments will be some of the best parts of my exchange. I’m really grateful for this chance and can’t wait to make some amazing memories together!
