Dear host family,
I’m very thankful that you decided to welcome a student from another country in your family. I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of fun together while learning about each others culture, but first I’d like to introduce myself to you.
I live in Germany together with my parents, my sister and my dog (Oskar). My brother already moved out. I’m in a girls only class at a Gymnasium but in elemantary school there were also boys in my class so I’m also used to that.
After school and on weekend I mostly do one of my freetime activities: horseback riding, scouting and playing piano. But horseback riding is my favorite hobby. Horses always have been a huge part of my life. I started horseback riding at the age of six and kept on going since then except for a short phase during the pandemic when riding lessons weren’t allowed. Right now I’m riding four times a week. On Tuesday I usually have my jumping lessons but otherwise I’m mostly doing dressage. There’s one pony called Bella which I often ride when she’s not sick like right now. But horses are not the only animals I absolutely adore. For example there’s also my dog Oskar who I really love. He’s super cute and loves to cuddle and play.
My first contact with a year abroad was when my sister did one in the USA in 2021/22. She was really happy about it and I also got the chance to meet some of her really nice friends from there. We also talked about that topic in class and used the USA as an example. One task in class was to find advantages and disadvantages, write a text about it and then state our own opinion. That really helped me to find out if I wanted to do something like that or not.
I’m sure it’s going to be ten exciting and fun months where I can learn a lot about your country your culture and you as my host family and maybe you’ll also be able to get to know some things about my home country and culture and of course about me.
