| Hello, my name is Niels, I am fourteen years old and I am French. I live in the Alps close to the Swiss and Italian boarders. I have two homes as my parents are separated. However they live close from each other and I have alternating custody, one week with each other. They get along very well. They both live in apartment, in small buildings, very close to nature, in a park for my father and in a regional nature park for my mother. However we are very close to a quite big city : all the advantages of the countryside and of the city. My mother, named Amonda, is a pharmacist and I am her only child. My father, Jean, is a medical doctor and has 3 other children, Hélène 32 years old, Agnès 31 years old and Vincent 30 years old who all live far from me and that I see for holidays and Christmas. I love spending time with my parents and they take time to be with me, to support me, to listen to me and to do activities with me. For example, we play board games on week-ends, we go hiking, we go to cinema, restaurants, we practice sports activities and we travel abroad during vacations. I am a kind boy, clever with a good reasoning. I am also curious and I love learning new things and discovering new landscapes, new traditions and new people! I can adapt myself easily as I am sociable and open to others. I also hate injustice. On the other hand, I can be stubborn and I rush quite too much when I do things. I am aware of that and I work on it the best I can. I have many centers of interest. I like sports. I play badminton in a club with two training lessons per week and during the week-ends I have competitions. I enjoy very much this sport which is very physical and intense. Even if I am in competition with some of my friends, I like the good atmosphere and the respect, the fair-play attitude in this sport. I have also played golf when I was younger and, at school, I climb, I play handball, volleyball, and ping-pong. I also like reading, playing video games and doing computer programming. On summer time, I’m going to camp with a friend and his parents and we do some theatre as my father’s friend writes a play that we perform then in front of holidaymakers. Each year we have a great success and it is really pleasant ! This year I have also been selected to participate with final years students in a conference on the Model United Nation. I will take part in these simulations during which I will play the role of United Nation delegates and will defend my country’s position on international issues. I will have to prepare our position during five half-day and then debate for two days with final years students from all the high-schools of the area in order to come up with a resolution. I eat everything from meat to vegetable and my weaknesses are sushi and salmon. My favorite season is Christmas as I love the atmosphere, sharing with others, the decorations, the traditions. Thank to this year in the USA I wish I could speak fluent English. It will help me to communicate more easily with people from all over the world when I travel as well as helping me for my future graduate studies as English is an important subject.The most important is I really want to discover the way of life of your country ! I want to discover a new school, to meet new friends ! I want to discover new traditions, new culture ! I am so excited to come and I am really looking forward to meeting you as soon as possible ! |
