LETTER FROM Robert

Robert

Dear future host family,

First of all I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to spend 10 months in your ´s home country. It is a very big dream of mine to do a year abroad in the USA. In the following letter I would like to tell you something about my school, my hobbies, my home and my lifestyle.

Hello, I’m Robert, I’m 14 years old (15 during the program) and I’m from central Germany. Now I will tell you something about my family. I live with my mother, my father and my little sister in a house with a big garden. My mother’s name is Tatjana (41), my father Eduard (43) and my sister Magdalena (12). My school is very close to my home. It only takes me 15 minutes to walk and 7 minutes by bike to get to school. My favorite subjects are: chemistry, sports and mathematics. Our school is large and has about 1000 students taught by about 90 teachers. There are currently 26 students in my class and I have made many friends there.

On a typical school day, I get up at 6:30 am and then I get ready for school, which starts at 8 am. School then ends at 1:15 p.m. After school I have lunch at home with my sister. After the meal I have about 1:30 hours to do my homework before I have to go to my training sessions. In the evening, when I’m back home, I eat a little, take a shower, read a little and then I go to sleep.

On a typical weekend I get up at 8 a.m. because we always have something nice planned. On Saturdays I usually have table tennis or soccer games and on Sundays we go on nice trips with the family or accompany and support my sister at her championships.

I have many hobbies. One of my hobbies is table tennis, which I do as a competitive sport. Table tennis is very important to me because my father also plays it and I enjoy it the most. I would also like to try to continue playing table tennis in the USA to stay and gain more experience. I also play soccer, am active in the youth fire brigade, and still attend guitar lessons.

In my free time I do a lot of sports activities, e.g. climbing, swimming, etc. During my vacation last year in Egypt, I got my diving license so that I can also dive deep. I also meet up with my friend once a month and go for a stroll around town with him.

With my family we often go to the swimming pool, go hiking in the forest or go to the cinema. We like to have a barbecue together and try new dishes. Above all, cycling is a lot of fun for me.

For me it is always interesting and incredibly exciting to get to know a new culture and new people. The reason why I want to do a year abroad is that I mainly want to improve my English. In addition, I always wanted to fly to the USA to get to know the country. But what interests me the most is the food in the USA. I would like to discover and try out new dishes for myself with you. I would also like to introduce them to my family, as I also love to cook and bake myself.

Greetings,

Robert
