LETTER FROM Rocio

Rocio

Dear host family,

Hi! First of all, I’m a little bit nervous because is my first time doing a thing like this.

I live with my family of four members. My dad, who is a person that at first is so quiet but when he feels confident he talks a lot. My mum, she talks with everyone of any type of things, and finally my older brother, who is two years older than me and people say that we are very similar physically and characteristically. I don’t have pets, but six years ago my aunt gave a bird to my brother’s birthday. We always wanted a dog but my parents say that is a big responsibility. Every Sunday we go to my grandparents house to have lunch and in the evening we watch a Netflix movie on the living room all together.

About me, I consider me a kind person. I always tell myself ‘don’t do to others what you wouldn’t like them to do to you’ and how true is that. Some people don’t care about it but worst for them. Also, I consider me an empathetic person with everyone, and it takes me a hard time getting grudges. I always try to talk and listen to everyone because I don’t like the feeling about being ignored.

Also, about my hobbies. I love reading romantic books, listening to music, cooking, playing table games… I think I can learn a lot of new things and find other new hobbies. Talking about sport, probably is one of the most thing I want to try in USA, because there, all people practice one, and I would try new sports like ice hockey, cheerleading, ice skating… There’re a lots sports. Also I like playing volleyball with my friends, last year I was in a team. Doing athletics, specially the hammer; I won some medals. Throughout my life I have practiced many sports such as swimming, gymnastics, dance…

I think I’m the most indecisive person around the world because I can’t decide one favourite thing about nothing, for example I love lasagna or pasta, but also I love ‘Salmorejo’, a typical Spanish food. I love spending time in the beach, but also in the mountain.,. There’re a lots options!!

On Christmas day all of my family goes to my grandmother house and we open presents, talk about anything, eat food that my grandmother, my mum, my aunt, my cousins and I cooked… Is a tradition and all years we do the same, I love it.

Finally, when I grow up I want to be flight attendant, and I need the english for everything but it’s not something that I dispute because I love English. I want to take away from this experience new friends, a host family that I can always talk and trust; It doesn’t matter where we’re in the world, new experiences, cultures and traditions to share with you and you with me, but above all an unforgettable year, because it is not a year in life, it is a life in a year.
