Dear host family,

My name is Samantha but everyone just calls me Sam. I am 16 years old and will be 17 soon after I arrive. I am from Germany. I live with my mother who is an old carer, her boyfriend who works as a warehouse clerk and my little brother who is in the 5th grade. We love animals, we had a dog, pigs, fish, geckos and several guinea pigs. My cousin and I are very close, we are like sisters. My mother and I also have a very close bond and she supports me in everything she can. I am a friendly person but also sometimes very emotional. I would say my strengths are determination and reliability. And my weakness is lack of creativity.

My hobby since 3 years is All-star Cheerleading. I enjoy spending time with my team, especially during championships. There’s always something new to learn, which brings new challenges as well. I enjoy reading romance, but also crime novels. I like listening to music, my favorite singer is Billie Eilish. Another interest of mine is spending time with friends and family like shopping or watching movies. My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas, but I also like my birthday. A family tradition is to go to the Christmas market at least once every Christmas. I love all kinds of berries and fruit, but like every teenager I also love fast food like fries.

Because I am a cheerleader in Germany, I hope to be one in America as well. I want to know new people and also the culture. It is very important to me to learn the language well. I’m really looking forward to going to high school and getting to know new things.
