LETTER FROM Tien

Tien

Dear host family,
It is an honor to have you read my letter. Please enjoy!
My name is Tien and I am currently an 11 grader living with my family in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. My family is an extended one which consists of my parents, my little sister, my grandma, my uncle and me. At the moment, I am just a junior who are excitedly preparing for a new school year and cannot wait to find new opportunities exploring the world.
I enjoy dong many things during my spare time, especially sports. I simultaneously play basketball and badminton and have been to several local competitions with my school team. Solving Rubik cubes is also one of my favorite hobbies since I can witness my own development via the records. As I am a curious person, sightseeing and camping are two activities I do the most in summer.
In addition, I am also a girl scout since primary school. During my time in the scout organization, I have attended in a variety of campus as a volunteer to tech the younger kids about soft skills and survival technique while learning new lessons from my seniors. Moreover, I like to join in English related contests and there were some that gave me the chance to travel abroad to compete.
As I was given many opportunities to travel to foreign countries, I was captivated the unique beauty of the cultures and the urge off studying abroad blossomed in me. I believe that staying in the USA, one of the most influencing nations, could help me study thoroughly a new culture, meet amazing people and enjoy their wonderful cuisine. In an exchange, I- an Asian, come to a Western country might bring a new breeze as you will know more about the tradition in the opposite of the globe, also some traditional dishes will be served directly by a local, that’s me. Furthermore, learning in a foreign nation enhance my perspective about the world and it could ensure me to become a passionate and devoted global citizen in the future whereas being a dutiful children for my family.
I would say living with me is simple. Thanks to my experience of being in camps and travelling alone, I am a disciplined and independent person regarding life style. I totally respect your host house’s rules and I would discuss my discomfort rather than keep silence. I can take care of younger siblings and easily get along with other kids.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and looking forward to your reply.
Kind regards,
Tien
