Dear Host family,

Thank you very much for choosing me and I hope my letter will help you to know me a little better.

My name is Yeraly. I am 14 years old and I will be 15 years old nest March. I live in the beautiful city Almaty. It is one of the biggest cities in Kazakhstan. I study at a secondary school and I have many friends there.

My family consist of 5 persons: my mom-Aktolkyn, dad-Bbakyt and 2 brothers Magzhan 13 years old and Bekals 14 years old. We are very friendly and honest with each other. We like to spend time together and talk about things. They are very happy that I will take part in the exchange program. My family fully supports my decision to enroll in this program and they believe that this is a very good opportunity for me to improve my English and get acquainted with the traditions of another country.

This upcoming year in the program is a great opportunity for me to see another country, learn the history of America, meet people, improve my English and learn something new. I hope to make a lot of new friends.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I study at a comprehensive school, and I have also been studying at an art school since 2021. As you understand, I love drawing and also a lot of things related to artistic activities, but my hobbies don’t end there, I can also cook (I hope you will understand that I am not a chef with 3 Michelin stars), but I improve my skills every time. I also play a little on the national musical instrument (the dombra). In my free time I sometimes watch movies, but I prefer to read (detective and horrors) or listen to music such as (automotivo Bibi Forgosa, pure imagination or Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching Me) In addition, I pay special attention to my physical abilities, to maintain them I train but not in gym.

What can I give you as a student? I will be happy to share with you all I know about my beautiful country and our traditions. I think I can teach basics of playing the dombra (national musical instrument), if I am allowed to bring it with me. In addition, I can cook for you, introduce you to our culture and also history, or teach you how to draw, animate, 3D model, of course, if you want it. I am open to help in the house and spend time the way your family does.

I hope this academic year in the exchange program will bring a lot to my life – living in the foreign country, learning to live in the host family, get to learn new culture and traditions, improve my English, get a new experience in the foreign school. All this make me very excited and anxious. I hope to meet you soon and have a great journey together. Thank you very much for accepting me to your life!
