Dear host family,
my name is Zoey and I am a 15-year-old student from Germany. Before I start to describe my life and myself I want to say thank you that you take the time to read my letter. Let´s start with my family! I live with my mom, my stepdad, my 3-year-old little brother and my dog Phoebe. My dad and my stepmom life in another city but we still have a good relationship with each other and I see him at least once a month. Both of my parents have many aunts, uncles and siblings so I have a pretty big family. I love my family especially my cousins and grandparents. I visit my grandparents about every two weeks and then we often eat together with other family members. Me and my mom have a really good relationship and spend a lot of time together. After school we talk about our day and in the evening we often watch Tv together. My little brother is one of the best things in my live. We read his books together and I love watching his Ice hockey training. Me and my dad love baking together. We often bake for the parents of my stepmom. At sunday we watch Bingo together and eat the things me and my dad baked.
If I would have to describe my personality in three words it would be: Helpful, respectful and caring. My strengths are that I have a lot empathy for other people, I am clean and I always try to develop my skills and my personality. My weaknesses are that I am a bit too polite when I meet people for the first time and that I am a little bit of a perfectionist.
In my freetime I go to the gym 2-4 times a week, meet up with friends, read books (mostly romance), watch my favorite shows and films (e.g Friends , Just go with it or Bones), help my grandparents at their company, I was a member of the local voluntary youth fire brigade for 2 years and I babysit my cousin and my little brother. I would like to start with ballet again. At school I am one of ten student representators, which means that I organize school events and talk with the teachers when students have wishes for the school. Last year I became actively involved as a medic. I am interested in history, music, fashion, books, religions, sports, cooking, baking, true crime and my favorite celebrities like Jennifer Aniston or Adam Sandler.
But why do I want to do an exchange year and what do I hope to gain from this experience? I have been to America 4 times and I love it and would absolutely love to live there and especially to experience High School live. I also hope that I will gain some good friends there and to stay close with my host family even after my exchange year. America is a beautiful country and the High School experience is an amazing opportunity that you only have once in a lifetime, and I would be really grateful if me and my host family will have the best time possible. What are my preferences for the exchange year? The only things that I expect is that me and my host family respect each other and we will get to know each other. I am interested in the culture of america and would love to really get to know the state that I will live in and my future host family.
